Everything happens for a reason.

Let's talk about what that reason is.

I’m adding this image from the news on 2/6/25 in case you’re skeptical - everything happens for a reason.

How many times have you done something, regretted it, or maybe couldn’t stop thinking about it, only to have it work out in your favor after all the fuss?

Did you learn your lesson? Did you stop worrying about the next thing until that day came? Why not, haven’t you learned that worrying does nothing?

Oh, because what if something bad DOES happen? Holy shit you’re right, we have to make sure that doesn’t happen. Let’s Doctor Strange this bad boy and run through all ten million possible outcomes, make a plan and take action.

Wait, what do you mean there’s nothing we can do? Are you saying I have to just, accept the outcome? I’m just supposed to keep on living with the knowledge that things might not be okay?

Welcome to addiction everyone, where acknowledging your past, accepting the present and trusting your present self with securing your future is impossible. Once you can medically get the drugs out of your system though, I am here to tell you that there is HOPE. Hell Opens People’s Eyes

Preemptively avoiding any backlash about the dangers of addiction, relapse and withdrawal, I am stating loud and clear that if you are attempting to quit drugs or alcohol (also a drug) please seek medical supervision for detox and stay under supervision for the following weeks if necessary. It is hell on Earth.

Acceptance seems to be commonly mistaken for things like “deal with it” or “sucks to suck.” I misunderstood acceptance for a long time, until one of my brothers told me what it actually meant. It does not mean you approve of your past, or the current situation, or what your wife did to you, or how your boss sucks - acceptance means that you have:

  • Considered the situation and those involved

  • Evaluated yourself, your actions and how they affected others

  • Developed a plan and put it into action

Anything outside of handling the situation presently and moving on is either counterproductive or just plain wasting time. If you’re one of them religious folks, the serenity prayer is a great mental tool that addresses this dilemma quite succinctly:

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”

Everything happens for a reason. From the moment you wake up to the moment you fall asleep, every little detail that you saw and heard and felt was for a reason. I challenge you to practice finding meaning in each moment of your day, starting now. Why are you reading this article at all? Then take it one step further, accept that everything happens for a reason, and trust that it is for your benefit. Do what you feel is right in each moment.

What are you going to do next?
